Break the Boundary provides nature-based off-road cycling and hiking opportunities for people living with a disability to break their physical, mental and social boundaries to engage with the outdoors and the wider community.
Adaptive Mountain Biking
Adaptive Mountain Biking (aMTB), sometimes referred to as “off-road para-cycling”, encompasses a broad range of riders who typically cannot ride a standard mountain bike and require adapted equipment and trails to suit their physical, intellectual, neurological and sensory abilities.
There are varying adaptive mountain bikes available , each designed to meet a riders specific need. Readily established adaptive equipment includes: handcycles, recumbent leg-cycles, and tandem bikes. Break the Boundary offers all of these bikes to best enhance your experience with us.
Monthly social rides will begin again in 2024 for our inducted aMTB members.

Adaptive Hiking
The only program of its kind in Australia! We have compiled a range of trail hiking experiences in the Perth Hills for anyone with a physical limitation and inability to independently hike on trails. Adaptive Chariots are used for all our sessions.
Break the Boundary has developed over 10 adaptive hiking leaders who have undergone several days of training and are ready to take you beyond the concrete and into nature! Ditch your daily mobility aids, leave behind your impairments, sit back, relax and let your new friends take you on an adventure like you’ve never experienced before!
Our volunteer adaptive hiking leaders will take you on hikes ranging from 1-2 hours, as fast or as slow as you desire.
Adaptive hiking begins again from mid March 2024. New participant? Come and get inducted and fitted in our next “come and try it!” day.
